South Jersey Football Games of the... South Jersey Football Games of the Week Part I

St. Joseph (4-1) at Oakcrest (4-0), Friday, 6 p.m.
St. Joseph's lone loss is a 17-14 OT defeat to Holy Spirit. The Wildcats handed Pennsville its first loss in last week's 14-6 triumph. This is a young St. Joseph team that continues to grow. Junior Qwahsin Townsel has rushed for 534 yards (5.9 avg. and 7 TDs). Junior Sencere Trapp leads a stingy defense. Trapp had 2.5 sacks last week against Pennsville and returned an interception for a TD. He now has 5.5 sacks for the season. Oakcrest is led by quarterback Kendall Elliott, among the most dynamic players in South Jersey. After three routes, the Falcons were tested in last week's 21-20 win against Overbrook.

Lenape (4-0) at Rancocas Valley (4-0), Friday, 7 p.m.
This is a showdown in the West Jersey Football League Capitol Division. Rancocas Valley is coming off a 28-25 win over Washington Township, the second close game for the Red Devils against an American Division team. Previously, they earned a 15-10 win over Hammonton. Rancocas Valley junior Iverson Clement is among the top running backs in South Jersey. He has rushed for 677 yards (7.2 avg.) and 9 TDs. Sophomore QB Bryce Mangene has completed 35-66 for 620 yards eight TDs and just one interception. Lenape doesn't have an explosive offense, but it is more than capable of producing. The defense has been dominant, having allowed 10 points all season while recording two shutouts.

Paul VI (2-2) at Clearview (2-1), Friday, 7 p.m.
These two teams seem to play high scoring games. Last year Paul VI won 38-31. In 2014, Paul VI won a 60-55 game full of offensive fireworks. Paul VI senior Jay-jay Vaughters has rushed for 294 yards (5.3 avg.) and 3 TDs. He also has 15 tackles. Paul VI is coming off a 24-6 win over Notre Dame. Clearview was idle last week. The Pioneers are looking to bounce back from a 49-7 loss to defending South Jersey Group 4 champion Timber Creek. Senior Gyair Sharper is among the more explosive backs in South Jersey and a player the Eagles must contain.

Pemberton (3-1) at Allentown (3-2), Friday, 7 p.m.
This is a key West Jersey Football League Patriot game. Allentown, which competes in Central Jersey Group 4, is a sectional title contender. The Redbirds have lost to two of South Jersey's top programs, St. Joseph (37-19) and Shawnee (17-10). Pemberton has one of the better quarterbacks in South Jersey in Joe Benson. He has completed 33 of 78 passes for 641 yards and 7 TDs. The Hornets, whose lone loss came to Ewing, are coming off Saturday's 22-6 win over Delran.
