Part I: South Jersey Games of the Week

Here are more top games in as the South Jersey football season continues this week:

Holy Spirit (4-1) at St. Augustine (4-2), Friday, 6 pm.
St. Augustine got off to a 1-2 start and was a little forgotten in the South Jersey landscape. The Hermits, however suffered the losses to PA power State College and St. Joseph, which was No. 1 in South Jersey at the time. In the last three weeks, the Hermits have been dominating, having defeated Kingsway, Cherokee and Rancocas Valley by a combined 93-9 margin. Chris Allen, who had four TD passes in the first five games, added two more in Friday’s 28-0 win over Rancocas Valley. Both TD passes against RV were scored by speedster Jaylen DeCoteau. Holy Spirit has won four in a row since a 35-16 loss to Maryland power Mt. St. Joseph. The Spartans are coming off a 40-13 win over Washington Township as Ryan Yost threw five TD passes. Last year Holy Spirit won 22-17 and this one figures to be as close.

Since losing 20-6 to three-time defending Maryland state champion Wise, Camden has been on fire. The Panthers have outscored teams 208-20 in winning four in a row. Pennsauken is coming off one of its most impressive wins of the season a 41-6 victory over Seneca. Senior Ramer Nock has rushed for 288 yards (8.0 avg.) and 8 TDs. This should be a matchup of top running backs. Pennsauken senior Nahzir Russell has rushed for 738 yards (7.0 avg.) and 11 TDs. Senior Darrien Tabb has been a big-play performer. He has six receptions for 234 yards and four touchdowns. The Indians have already surpassed their win total from last year when they went 3-7, but they are looking for more and could factor into the South Group 4 race.
