Fatal Crash on NJ Turnpike A fatal car crash in Gloucester County, New Jersey has claimed at least four lives. The accident crushed the one vehicle involved and shut down the southbound New Jersey Turnpike between Exits 2 and 3 for hours with backups as long as five miles, leaving thousands of motorists are stranded.

Just before 2:00 p.m. on Saturday a car traveling southbound on the turnpike in East Greenwich Township crashed, ended up in an embankment, and was shredded into pieces. Police say that no other vehicles were hit.

There were six passengers in the car. Two people died at the scene and two others were pronounced dead at area hospitals. The other two passengers are still hospitalized, with one in critical condition.

The vehicle involved doesn't even look like a car anymore, with several parts of it strewn across the leafy embankment.

New Jersey State Police are investigating the crash. The victims names have not been released; all six passengers were young males.
